Youth Sports Safety Week

Youth Sports Safety Week offers something for everyone! There are opportunities for learning and for pre-sports physicals and concussion testing. Read below to find the event that’s best for you. All events are free.**

Coaches:

Sudden cardiac arrest is the leading cause of death among young athletes. This CPR/AED class can help YOU make the difference between life and death! The class is limited to the first 40 participants. CPR/AED Training, Tuesday, November 17, 2015, 6 pm, NH Sportsplex in Bedford. (**Note: There is a $7 fee if you need a certification card. If you don’t need a card, there is no fee for the class.) Click here to sign up.

Parents:

Have you wondered whether you would recognize if your child had a concussion? Learn about concussion signs and symptoms and what to expect. Learn about concussion while your child has balance, brain function and vision testing. This informal information session will be repeated during our concussion baseline testing session. Saturday, November 21, 2015, 11-3 pm, Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester. Click here to RSVP.

Athletes:

FREE Sports Physicals: Wednesday, November 18, 2015 5:30-7 pm, NH Orthopaedic Center, 9 Washington Place, Bedford. Click here to learn more and complete the online physical form to register.

Athletes Saving Athletes™: This unique peer-to-peer class teaches athletes to recognize and report dangerous conditions in themselves and their teammates. Concussion, heat stroke and sudden cardiac arrest are among the topics. Thursday, November 19, 2015, McLane Middleton Law Firm, 900 Elm St, Manchester.  Contact Amy Hollingworth amy@nhmi.net for more information.

Concussion Baseline Testing: Have you wished your child could have a baseline test but your league doesn’t offer it? This test session is open to young athletes aged 10 and up. Testing with C3 Logix will establish baselines for your child’s balance, brain and visual function. If s/he later has a concussion, we can retest at our Free Injury Drop-In Clinic to identify when performance on those tests is back to his/her normal. Saturday, November 21, 2015, 11-3 pm, Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester.  Click here to sign up for a testing time slot. Click here to watch a brief video about C3 Logix testing.
