What is a Physician Assistant?
A Physician Assistant, or PA, is a licensed health professional who practices medicine with physician supervision as part of Physician/PA teams. This means that a physician doesn’t need to be present but they must always be available for consultation. Physician assistants perform a wide range of medical duties ranging from primary care to highly specialized procedures. PAs who practice in orthopaedics perform physical exams, order lab tests, take medical histories, diagnose and treat illnesses, prescribe medication, assist in surgery, and provide pre- and post-operative care. NHOC’s PAs are all Masters educated and board-certified.
