Robert J. Heaps, MD

Robert J. Heaps, MD is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He specializes in Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery and is recognized by the ABOS with a Subspecialty Certificate in Surgery of the Hand.  Dr. Heaps received his Bachelor of Science from Boston College, Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts. He is a graduate of Georgetown University School of Medicine, Washington, DC. He did his Surgical Internship at the U.S. Naval Hospital, Portsmouth, Virginia. He completed his Residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at the National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, Maryland. He completed his Fellowship in Hand and Microvascular Surgery at Duke University Medical Center, Durham, North Carolina. Dr. Heaps has been voted top Hand Surgeon by New Hampshire Magazine in 2003, 2007, 2008, and 2010 through 2013. He currently serves as President of the New Hampshire Orthopaedic Society.

Dr. Heaps is a trained XIAFLEX® physician.  XIAFLEX is an injected prescription medication used to treat adults with Dupuytren’s contracture; a very painful condition in which your fingers bend in toward the palm of your hand without being able to fully straighten.  For more information on XIAFLEX please click here.
