Eric R. Benson, MD
Eric R. Benson, MD is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He specializes in surgical treatment of hip and knee arthritis and sports medicine/knee arthroscopy. Dr. Benson graduated from The College of the Holy Cross, Summa Cum Laude before attending medical school at the University of Massachusetts. He interned at the University of Connecticut Health Center, Hartford Hospital and Saint Frances Hospital. He did his residency at the University of Connecticut Medical Center, Hartford Hospital, Saint Frances Hospital, Newington Children’s Hospital and Connecticut Children’s Medical Center. His fellowship was in adult reconstruction at New England Baptist Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. Dr. Benson has been voted top Orthopaedic Surgeon by New Hampshire Magazine several times, was elected memberof Best Doctors and received the 2004 Union Leader “Top 40 under 40” award.
Dr. Benson is a member of many professional societies including the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, University of Connecticut Orthopaedic Club, New Hampshire Medical Society, New Hampshire Orthopaedic Society, and New Hampshire Physician’s Organization. He also serves on the Board of Editors for the Journal of Arthroplasty and is a Clinical Consultant for Stryker Orthopaedics.
Dr. Benson’s clinical interests are surgical treatment of Hip and Knee Arthritis, Sports Medicine, and Knee Arthroscopy. He has hospital privileges at Elliot Hospital, Elliot One Day Surgical Center, Catholic Medical Center, Bedford Ambulatory Surgical Center, and Parkland Medical Center.
Dr. Benson was voted Top Orthopaedic Surgeon by New Hampshire Magazine in 2001, 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2009. He was also elected a member of Best Doctors in July, 2007 and won the 2004 New Hampshire Union-Leader ‘Top 40 Under 40’ award. Dr. Benson’s hobbies and interests include golf, downhill skiing, cross-training in running and bicycling, baseball, and college basketball.
